The trip is roughly eight miles and, outside of rush hour, most people make it in twenty to thirty minutes. There are three sensible ways to do it.

The Belt Parkway route

Pick up the Belt Parkway eastbound at 4th Avenue or Bay Parkway and stay on it past Coney Island Avenue and Ocean Parkway. Come off at the Knapp Street or Flatbush Avenue exits, work north toward Avenue R or Kings Highway, then west a short distance to Nostrand. This is the fastest option on a weekday morning and the worst one at 5:30 on a Friday.

The surface route

Take 86th Street or Bay Ridge Parkway east through Dyker Heights, pick up Kings Highway where it cuts across, and follow it to Nostrand Avenue. Turn south and you are here in a few blocks. It is more traffic lights and less parkway, and plenty of our regulars prefer it because there is no merge to fight.

Without a car

The B9 runs from Shore Road in Bay Ridge across 60th Street and Avenue M to Kings Plaza, and it crosses Nostrand Avenue on the way.
